UniGR Workshop in the Grand Region:

Electrochemical Energy Storage and Conversion: from Materials to Systems

tentatively planned for Spring 2023, at KIST Europe in Saarbrücken

Energy-relevant electrochemistry is a topic of highest actuality. Corresponding research is taking place in different institutions in the Grand Region, like:

• Technische Universität Kaiserslautern,
• Hochschule Kaiserslautern – Standort Zweibrücken,
• Université de Liége,
• Université de Luxembourg,
• Université de Lorraine with research units in Nancy and in Metz,
• Universität des Saarlandes,
• Leibniz-Institut für neue Materialien (INM), Saarbrücken,
• Korea Institute of Science and Technology Europe (KIST Europe), Saarbrücken,
• Hochschule Wirtschaft und Technologie (htw), Saarbrücken,
• Institut für Zukunftsenergiesysteme und Stoffströme (IZES), Saarbrücken,
• Universität Trier,
• Hochschule Trier, Umweltcampus Birkenfeld,
• and certainly some others ?

But nobody is aware of the energy-relevant electrochemistry activities taking place at these institutions, and we are not aware of any networking so far.

Therefore, the scope of the workshop is to bring together scientists from these institutions, who are working in the field of energy-relevant electrochemistry, in order

• to become acquainted with each other,
• to share expertise and results,
• to form an informal network.

The workshop Electrochemical Energy Storage and Conversion: from Materials to Systems is a chance, perhaps and at some later time, to form a consortium eligible for INTERREG support.

• Venue:   KIST Europe, University Campus Saarbrücken, Bldg. E7.1 and E7.2
• Overnight at Hotel Seewald
• Conference fee: 40,00 € (includes coffee breaks, lunch snacks on both days, and conference dinner), to be payed until Aug. 15; conference fee later: 60 €
• Organisation: R. Hempelmann & S. Kim, A. Walcarius & M. Etienne and G. Hoogers
  Support:  German-Korean-Society (?)
